Disclaimer:
I am layman Buddhist/pagan.
The summary is based on what I perceive is 'important' in the book.
Conversation in between Deity JiGong, Yang Sheng and Prison Guard
If there is contradiction of meaning convey, the book prevails.
There are times I might questioning parts of the points inside the book doesn't mean I don't believe it. I need enlightenment on the doubts that I raise.
SECOND VISIT TO THE PRISON OF HEART-WRENCHING
Narrated by JiGong: In this world there are people who are not capable of achieving any meritorious deeds or attaining any success in anything, yet they see others progress or achieve fame, they become jealous. To hide their own weakness of failure, they criticizing and finding fault on others' achievement. They also like to run down religious beliefs of others. When such people die, their souls will be sent to the Prison of Heart-Wrenching, to extract their dirty hearts for being jealous and bad mouthing religious of success of others, for purification.
Narrated by Prison Guard: The heart of a person is under direct control of oneself. The gouging heart punishment is so terrible that there is no other suffering to compare with. The injured heart can cause fright to the six roots (ear, nose, eyes, body, tongue, mouth).
Case of government officer
Had become jealous when seeing fellow government officers earn promotion where he didn't. He feels immediate superior treated him unfairly. He begin revenge by telling untrue stories about his colleagues.
JiGong advise: Human beings must understand they should never have jealous heart. Being jealous heart had destroyed close relationship of society where one acted in a way detrimental to public welfare.
Case of ardent believer of Buddhism
Had read a lot of literature of Buddhism. Had look upon people of other religions as heretics and despised them. Other religions was of lower order, far beneath of Buddhism and after that, they had no chance of going to Paradise.
King Sen Luo had scolded him for not have a heart for others and yet belittle other religions. Not understand laws of Buddhism stand for the equality of all religions. If any religion teaches morality and discourages evil deeds, then that is a true and proper religion. Laws of buddhism are boundless, so are other religions.
Case of planchette handler of certain temple
When temple management did not give me due respect and consideration, he began to question of his sincerity. He told management that planchette writing was fake and directly under control of handlers, therefore they should not believe in deities. The management then stop then lost faith and stop frequenting the temple.
JiGong: Planchette writing represent deities' communication and nothing bad should be spoken about it. The main and most important purpose of planchette writing is to teach people to do good and lead an ascetic life. Therefore, to belittle planchette writing is insulting to the deities and is great sin.
